【摘要】:Thesepracticesestablishstandardproceduresdesignedforqualitativelyevaluatingtheperformancecharacteristicsofchemical-protectivesuitensemblesintermsofcomfort,fit,function,anddurability.Thesepracticesaresuitableforbothendusersandmanufacturerstoevaluateperformancecharacteristicsofensemblesandensemblecomponents.Endusersmayusethesepracticestoqualitativelydeterminehowwellensemblesandensemblecomponents(gloves,boots,breathingapparatus,communicationssystems,andcoolingdevices)meettheirparticularapplication.Manufacturersofensemblesandensemblecomponentsmayusethesepracticestodeterminethequalitativeperformancecharacteristicsinexistingorproposeddesigns.ProcedureApermitsaqualitativeevaluationofchemical-protectivesuitintegrity(materials,seams,andcomponents)bysubjectingtheprotectiveensembletoamannedexerciseroutine.OptionBpermitsaqualitativeevaluationofensembleandcomponentfunction.Eachprocedurecanbeusedtoassessensemblecomfortandfitbyrelatingtestsubjectresponsesandbycomparingthedimensionsandweightsofboththetestsubjectandsuit.Note18212;Theaccumulationofsuitandhumansubjectdimensiondatamayeventuallybeusedbymanufacturersorendusersinstandardstoimprovethesizingofchemical-protectivesuitsandtheintegrationofensemblecomponentsinprotectiveensembles.Theuseofthesepracticesisforqualitativepurposesonly.Ingeneral,resultsfromuseofthesepracticesononetypeensemblemaynotbecomparabletoothertestresultsonadifferentensembleduetothesubjectivenatureoftestresults.Thesepracticesarenotintendedtoassessheatstressresultingfromwearingachemical-protectiveensemble,althoughthermalcomfortofthesuitensemblemaybesubjectivelyevaluated.Endusersandmanufacturersofchemical-protectiveensemblesandensemblecomponentsshouldconsiderthesepracticestobeminimumproceduresforevaluatingensembleandcomponentperformancecharacteristics.Usersofthesepracticesmaywishtoconsideradditionaltestsandprocedurethatrelatedirectlytotheirparticularapplication.Eachfacilityperformingthesepracticesshouldestablishitsowncriteriaforassessingacceptableensembleperformance.1.1Thesepracticesareintendedforevaluatingchemical-protectiveensemblesandensemblecomponentstodeterminethesuitabilityoftheensembleorensemblecomponentsinaworkenvironmentonthebasisofitscomfort,fit,function,anddurability.1.1.1OptionAisamannedexercisescenariointendedtotestthestrengthanddurabilityoftheensemblecomponents.1.1.2OptionBisamannedworktaskscenariointendedtodeterminehumanfactorcharacteristicsandtheabilityofthesuitedtestsubjecttoperformtasksthatmaybeencounteredonaroutinebasisinatypicalworkenvironment.1.2Thesepracticesapplytomostchemical-protectiveensemblesandensemblecomponents.1.3Thevaluesasstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesaregivenforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificsafetyprecautionsaregiveninSection7.
